Tastes of green pepper, indicating grapes picked too early. This red wine from Chile also is a bit hot. Meh. (Not good.)
6/2009 (oops) CABERNET FRANC CARMENERE 2006
More, please. We want more Cabernet Franc available in America, and we want more of this brand of wine. (oops) wines are produced and bottled for Schwartz Olcott Imports of Manhasset, New York.
The packaging is superb, and this wine was just what we were looking for one night. A guest had visited and insisted on cooking lamb chops, so we wanted a robust red, but not a fruit bomb. This 84% Cab Franc and 16% Carmenere fit the bill. It showed black pepper, a bit of raspberry, and a touch of menthol or Eucalyptus. Not bad for $12! (Rating ****)

2/2008 LOS VASCOS CABERNET SAUVIGNON COLCHAGUA 2005
Wow, we can;t recall the last time we tasted such a bad wine. It’s watery and shows blackberry then a tidal wave of sour (yes, sour) green pepper. Blech. Three sips and we dumped the glass. Domaines Barons de Rothschild should be ashamed to have its name on this dreck. (Rating *1/4)
