Canadian Mist Blended Whisky

When we were young, Canadian whisky was all the rage in America. It was advertised everywhere, and often portrayed as the drink of a sophisticated and cosmopolitan man. Now that we think of it, our first mixed drink might have been a 7 and 7 (Seagram’s Seven and 7-Up).

Now we are older and far wiser, and we rarely drink Canadian whisky. The reason is simple— most of it is not good. Many brands are made mostly of neutral grain spirit blended with a bit of rye-based whiskey.

Canadian Mist is an example of a typical Canadian whisky. It is low viscosity and reminds us of vodka with a little of Dewers dribbled in. Blech. We’ll use it for toddies, but nothing else. (Rating **1/2)
