Regia Extra Smooth Lager Beer

Source: GreatBrewers.com

Yes, it is called REGIA EXTRA SMOOTH LAGER BEER. It is not to be confused with REGIA SOMEWHAT SMOOTH BEER, or REGIA NOT THE LEAST BIT SMOOTH BEER. Ho, ho.

This brew is produced by Cerveceria La Constancia of San Salvador, El Salvador, the same folks who make the occasionally-found-in-America SUPREMA. The first time we saw REGIA EXTRA in WHOLE FOODS, it was going to over $5 for a 32 ounce bottle. We did not bite. Recently, the price was slashed to $2.49. We bit.

For the price, it was adequate — a bland, biscuity beer, one that probably would taste good after a day in the sweltering sun. With its ridiculously retro label, we are confident that some hipsters will adopt it as their own, seeing as they did the same with PABST BLUE RIBBON (in cans) some years back.

Anyhoo, REGIA EXTRA is not a bad beer; it has no nasty odors or face-crumpling flavors. So, if you can get it dirt cheap as we did, and you are in a swelter, well, have at it. (Rating ***)
