We found this red wine at Pearson’s Wine & Spirits in the northwest of Washington, DC. It had a sticker price of $12, but if bought by the case goes for just $8 a bottle. (Which is just one reason why we love Pearson’s!)
Initially, this Diseno red wine comes off as robust and fruity, and you get the sense that it is holding something back. Let it air for a while, splash it about your glass, and then other notes emerge—cassis and leather. The mouthfeel is slightly velvety. (Rating ***3/4)
One wonders how this wine might taste if aged a couple of years. Well, there’s just one way for us to find out!
Diseno comes to America via Constellation Brands.
