Faustino VII Rioja 2007

What a nice find for $9.

When we first saw the bottle, we smiled at the cheesey label—the chap on it sort reminded us of Orson Welles, and the infamous Paul Masson outtakes where he is dead drunk.  (So bad was Welles, that an even more outrageous spoof of his performance was produced.)

We were looking for a red that head earth and leather notes and Faustino delivered.

This red is well worth stocking up on, especially if you can score a case discount of 10 or 15%

It paired nicely with both steak and brie, and we would bet that it would be great with grilled vegetables or anything with a bit of char.  (Rating ****1/4)
