The subtitle sorta says it all: “Be a serious wine drinker without taking wine seriously.” Well, yes, the authors certainly do provide an easy reading introduction to wine, aimed nicely at the person who is beginning or considering starting to sip wine. Conveniently, this slim book will fit in a wide pocket, enabling one to take it to the store and refer to it when one is stumped. “Nebbiolo? I wonder what that is like…” But, in the end, the authors really don’t teach one to be a serious wine drinker. How so? Simple, the authors treat the subject as fun, something to play at, rather than treat as a training course. And for that, we lift our glass to them. Here’s to fun!
